of Lois Catherine Walker |
Lois
Catherine Walker, Catherine or Katie to the family, was born in Walnut
Grove IL on October 14, 1930. Catherine is described by her siblings
as being the "princess" of the family who got all of the
looks and talent. She loved music and could play the guitar, banjo,
and mandelin and when younger could sing just about any part. She
left home as a teen, got married, and had two boys and a girl that
she put up for adoption. She went on to have two additional daughters
that she raised until her death in 2000.
From
the age of 20 until June 5, 2006 her family heard nothing from her
an did not know what had happened to her. Her brother, Melvin, spoke
often to his daughter, Tammy, that he wondered what had ever happened
to his sister. Prior to his death Tammy had agreed to help him find
Catherine and lived up to that promise in June 2006 when she was able
to get in contact with Catherine's youngest daughter through the internet.
The
details of Catherine's life from the time she first left home as a
teen until her daughter Glenda was old enough to remember is very
much a mystery. It is certain that she had two boys that she named
Jimmy & Ricky that were put up for adoption. The date, location,
and reason for this is unknown at this time. Her daughter, that she
named Melanie, was put up for adoption in Colorado. Renamed Shelly
by her adoptive parents Shelly began looking for her birth mother
and found her just prior to Catherine's death. Her
daughter's, Glenda and Tanya, were raised by Catherine but have discovered
sincer her death that she kept many secrets from them.
Catherine
lived approximately the last 35 years of her life in Houston TX. In
1973 she married Herman Lee Wilson Sr., Tanya's father. She worked
as a book keeper for automotive dealerships most of this time and
occassionally waittressed as a second job. June 7, 2000 she passed
away after a 2 year battle with colon cancer.
